The Business Partnerships for Eco-systemic Services (PESE) was undertaken by CEBDS, GVces (Center for Sustainability Studies of the Fundação Getulio Vargas) and the WRI (World Resources Institute), with the support of USAID (United States Agency for International Development). The program seeks to train companies in the use of the Ecosystem Services Review (ESR), a tool that assesses the impact and dependency of the productive activity on natural resources (fresh water, timber, climate, food, medications and others). The first phase included the participation of seven companies: Anglo American, Danone, Grupo André Maggi, Natura, PepsiCo, Votorantim and Walmart.
It constitutes a structured methodology that aids the managers to develop proactive strategies to manage risks and opportunities resulting from the dependency of the companies and the impact on the eco-systems. The companies participating in the first phase of the PESE have already identified and begun to develop in proactive manner activities and strategies to manage risks and opportunities resulting from the dependence and the impact of the companies on the eco-systems. Case studies: Anglo American (English, Portuguese) Danone (English, Portuguese) Grupo André Maggi (English, Portuguese) Walmart (English, Portuguese).
