On September 23, CEBDS, in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), will hold the first workshop on Natural Capital for the Financial Sector. Commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the series of workshops is aimed exclusively at financial institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe inclusion of socio-environmental criteria in the policies and requirements of the financial sector can drive significant changes towards a green economy, as they encourage environmental compliance by companies that seek financing,\u201d says Fernanda Gimenes, coordinator of the Thematic Chamber of Sustainable Finance (CTFin) at CEBDS.<\/p>\n
The training series aims to provide financial institutions with a deep understanding of the relevance of natural capital-related risks and opportunities for financing and investment activities. This training will provide an overview of methodologies and tools to quantify natural capital risks and integrate them into investment and risk management decisions.<\/p>\n
The training consists of three workshops:<\/b><\/p>\n
1. Introduction to Natural Capital \u2013 Understanding Risks and Opportunities<\/p>\n
2. Understanding, Quantifying and Managing Natural Capital Risks:<\/p>\n
During this workshop, the results of the study on \u201cQuantification of Exposure to Risk related to the Natural Capital of Financial Institutions in Brazil\u201d will be presented.<\/p>\n
3. New Investment Opportunities in Green Technologies and Sustainable Business Models: During this workshop, the results of the study on \u201cTaking Advantage of Business Opportunities: Investing in Green Markets and Sustainable Business Models\u201d will be presented.<\/p>\n
