On Sunday, 3\/12, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), in partnership with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the We Mean Business Coalition (WMBC), promoted the panel \u201cFrom Dubai to Brazil: Building Ambition on the Road to COP30\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Andr\u00e9 Correa do Lago, Secretary of Climate, Energy and Environment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who highlighted the exceptional moment in terms of opportunities for Brazil, the Brazilian government's commitment to the combat agenda to climate change and the risks that need to be managed in this scenario, such as the lack of focus and adoption of wrong choices, recalling Brazil's history of bad choices throughout its history. Andr\u00e9 praised the choice of Bel\u00e9m as the host city for COP30 and stated that Brazil has many solutions to offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the same vein, the former Minister of the Environment and director of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) Izabella Teixeira pointed out several points of the \u201chomework\u201d that Brazil needs to do in regulatory issues, productive arrangements and definitions of State policies , to occupy the leadership position you want. \u201cLeaders are chosen by third parties and not self-declared\u201d, explained the former minister. To achieve this, \u201cBrazil needs to be back, but looking to the future and not the past\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marina Grossi, president of CEBDS, highlighted the companies' commitment to building a journey that leads from Dubai to Bel\u00e9m \u2013 and beyond. According to her, this also means providing internal mechanisms to bring opportunities and prosperity to people, such as those who live in the Amazon, with the aim of reducing inequalities. Marina gave as an example the blended finance mechanism that CEBDS launched together with the Igarap\u00e9 Institute and the JGP fund. \u201cThis is the new economic model, one that puts people at the center of decisions,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
