{"id":32928,"date":"2024-11-12T16:02:41","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T19:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cebds.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=32928"},"modified":"2024-11-12T16:08:55","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T19:08:55","slug":"em-baku-empresas-discutem-participacao-na-criacao-de-ndcs-em-evento-do-cebds-na-cop29","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/cebds.org\/en\/noticia\/em-baku-empresas-discutem-participacao-na-criacao-de-ndcs-em-evento-do-cebds-na-cop29\/","title":{"rendered":"In Baku, companies discuss participation in the creation of NDCs at CEBDS event at COP29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>COP29 takes place in Baku, and CEBDS and associated companies participate in multiple discussions at the event<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday (12), the panel \u201cPrivate sector and NDCs: how the private sector can participate in the creation of NDCs and encourage their implementation discussions\u201d, promoted by CEBDS and ICS at COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan, addressed the role of companies in the construction and implementation of NDCs together with the public sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion was moderated by Lucas Grilo, Technical Manager of Climate, Energy and Sustainable Finance at CEBDS, and included the participation of Jo\u00e3o Teixeira, Sustainability Manager at Natura; Fiona Duggan, Global Sustainability Senior Manager at Unilever; F\u00e1bio Maeda, Director of Control and Risk at Banco da Amaz\u00f4nia and Greg Briner, Climate Policy Consultant at WMBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the event, the importance of NDCs and private sector engagement for the full implementation of contributions around the world were highlighted, with representatives from Banco da Amaz\u00f4nia and Natura, both associated with CEBDS, addressing case studies from their companies. During the panel, Greg Briner from WMBC addressed the publication \u201cCall for Action from the Brazilian Business Sector for an Ambitious and Implementable NDC\u201d, launched in Brazil in a partnership between CEBDS, We Mean Business Coalition and WBCSD, signed by 55 Brazilian companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WHAT ARE NDCS?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are voluntary commitments made by countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, with the aim of combating global warming and limiting temperature increases to 1.5\u00b0C, in accordance with the Paris Agreement. Defined periodically, NDCs are essential for each country to define clear goals and concrete actions in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
