Meet the women working to make the world more sustainable<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There's still time to vote for the Women's Leadership Award and choose the 2019 winner in the popular vote category, with voting ending on August 30th. In addition to choosing the winner, the initiative is an opportunity to meet 32 women who are taking action and leading programs aimed at making the world a little more sustainable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nominated spontaneously by the public, each of them is already a winner and celebrates the recognition of their work. There are leaders from all regions of the country, working in companies, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions. The winner will be announced on September 5th, during the <\/span>CEBDS Vision 2050 Seminar: The Future is Made Now, taking place in S\u00e3o Paulo<\/b>In addition to the popular vote, the winners of three other categories will be announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

A jury of notable women will select the winners in the Associated Companies and New Leaders Initiative categories. The jury includes Ana Toni, Executive Director of the Climate and Society Institute; Luana G\u00e9not, Director of the Brazilian Identities Institute (ID_BR); Izabella Teixeira, former Minister of the Environment and CEBRI Senior Fellow for Sustainability, Climate Change, and Agriculture; and Anielle Guedes of Urban 3D. There is also a Social Project category, in which registered initiatives may be supported by associated companies in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative is from the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), which represents 60 of the largest business groups in the country and promotes environmental and social sustainability based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award aims to boost Brazil's achievement of SDG 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

About CEBDS<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 1997 by a group of leading Brazilian businesspeople, CEBDS (Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development) is a non-profit civil association that promotes sustainable development through collaboration with governments and civil society, in addition to disseminating the most current concepts and practices on the topic. The Council brings together approximately 60 of the country's largest business groups, with revenues equivalent to 40% of GDP and responsible for over 1 million direct jobs. The Council represents the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) network in Brazil and operates through six Thematic Chambers (forums) that bring together representatives of member companies to develop and develop projects related to sustainability issues: Water, Biodiversity, Climate, Social Impact, and Finance.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
