Together, four of the most important civil society organizations will present the event &quot;Amazon: Challenges and Opportunities as a Climate Solution for Brazil&quot; in New York.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lecture is part of Climate Week New York, one of the largest and most important events for discussing climate issues. The audience is XXXX (please specify the audience, what kind of foreigners will be there?). The presentation will take place at the Harvard Club on September 20th, from 9:30 am to 11 am (Bras\u00edlia time). The lectures will be open to the public and will be streamed live online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of the institutions is to shed light on the alarming deforestation rates in the Amazon and discuss proposals for the region&#039;s integrated development as a climate solution, including the role of governments in combating deforestation, investing in low-carbon agriculture projects, and restoring degraded areas, among other topics. Speakers will include Marina Grossi, president of CEBDS; Roberto Waack, founder of Uma Concerta\u00e7\u00e3o pela Amaz\u00f4nia; Rachel Birdeman, the Coalition&#039;s co-facilitator; and Bernardo Strassburg, co-CEO of re.green.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The four entities represent a broad cross-section of Brazilian society. CEBDS, for example, brings together 100 of Brazil&#039;s largest companies, with combined revenues equivalent to almost 50% of Brazil&#039;s GDP. Coalition XXXX; Concerta\u00e7\u00e3o, XXX; and re.green, founded by Jo\u00e3o Moreira Salles and Arm\u00ednio Fraga, operates in XXX.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event becomes even more relevant given the current situation in the Amazon rainforest. Studies indicate that eliminating deforestation could prevent up to 2.14 gigatons of CO2 emissions in 10 years, generating approximately US$18.2 billion in carbon credits by 2031.
