To offset emissions from travel, transport and energy consumption, the business council supported a project to keep the forest standing in Amazonas and another linked to the generation of wind energy in Piau\u00ed<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the seventh time, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) obtained the certification<\/a> of the \u201cFriend of the Climate Program\u201d, awarded to those who neutralize their impact on global warming. The Council, which represents more than 100 Brazilian companies whose combined revenues are equivalent to around 50% of the national GDP, offset the gas emissions generated by the work of its team throughout the years 2021 and 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This certification recognizes the offsetting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in scopes 1, 2 and 3. To offset this, CEBDS purchased carbon credits from two different projects. One of them, the Redd + Unitor Project, is aimed at keeping the forest standing in a region of the Amazon with a high rate of deforestation. The other, the CDM for the Porto do Delta wind farm, is linked to the generation of clean energy in Piau\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, 88 tons of CO were offset2<\/sub> equivalent, the measure used worldwide and which converts the impact of all the gases that cause global warming into a single measure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to calculations made by the consultancy Way Carbon, responsible for the Amigo do Clima program, the CEBDS team offset greenhouse gas emissions with flights, transportation to meetings, events and the trip to and from the office, in addition to energy consumption with equipment electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to voluntarily offsetting its emissions, the Board has been promoting a series of improvements in its operation to reduce them, such as the adoption of a hybrid work format, without the need to go to the office every day; exchange of computers for newer and more efficient equipment; preference for virtual meetings; and replacing the physical server with a cloud storage system.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
