CEBDS conducts technical visit to the Guandu Water Treatment Plant (ETA)

  • Posted in 15/09/2023

CEBDS, through the Water Thematic Chamber, carried out a technical visit to the Guandu Water Treatment Plant (ETA), last Wednesday, September 13th.

Located in Rio de Janeiro, the ETA, which is the responsibility of the State Water and Sewage Company (CEDAE), supplies water to 9 million people in the municipalities of Nilópolis, Nova Iguaçu, Duque de Caxias, Belford Roxo, São João de Meriti, Itaguaí, Queimados and Rio de Janeiro.

Technical visits allow companies to see first-hand how water supply and sewage systems work in operation.

During CEBDS' visit to ETA, the following points were discussed:

> Treatment capacity to meet the demands of the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro;
> Treatment Processes;
> Guarantee of the quality of treated water;
> Adoption of advanced technologies and innovations in the treatment process to optimize efficiency and sustainability.
> Environmental Sustainability;
> Resilience to Extreme Events;
> Investments made in the expansion and modernization of the ETA infrastructure;
> Partnerships and Collaboration;
> Education and Awareness;
> Future Challenges.

CEBDS has played a fundamental role in promoting technical visits that foster the exchange of knowledge between companies and water resource management practices, making them a priority and strategic within the organizations' business models.

Furthermore, field activities strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors, driving the search for joint and innovative solutions in the water and sanitation sector, fulfilling the pillars of the ESG agenda.

The following companies associated with CEBDS participated in the technical visit: Anglo American, Eletrobras, Eletrobras Furnas, Águas do Brasil Group, Iguá Saneamento, New Wave, Petrobras, Porto do Açu, Schneider Electric Brasil, Siemens Infrastructure and Zurich Insurance Company Ltd.
