CEBDS and the business sector will follow discussions at COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

  • Posted in 05/11/2024

In total, CEBDS will take 30 associated companies, represented by 66 collaborators including leaders and experts to COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

On November 11, discussions and events for the 29th Annual United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP29, will begin in Baku, Azerbaijan, and CEBDS will be there, following the discussions and representing the Brazilian private sector.

What is COP29?

This edition is expected to see significant progress in Climate Finance, encouraging resources for developing countries that aim to strengthen their infrastructure and adopt low-carbon economy practices. With the increase in the climate emergency, the fair energy transition needs to be accelerated, especially in developing countries, which need contributions to consolidate their efforts in the process. Due to this central theme, the event was nicknamed the “COP of Finance”.

Another highlight of COP29 will be the submission of new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which will set climate targets for 2023 and 2035. With a deadline in February 2025, these commitments reflect the global ambition to reduce emissions and combat global warming.

Brazil has all the conditions to consolidate itself as the leading country in the transition to a low-carbon, nature-friendly economic model, with incentives and actions from the public and private sectors. With COP30 being held in Belém, Pará, the expectations are that the discussions at this edition can serve as a paving stone for the event that will be hosted by Brazil.
