On the 29th, the president of COP30, André Corrêa do Lago, released the seventh letter from the Brazilian Presidency of the UN Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
This time, the message was aimed at businesses and the private sector, recognized as creative and essential forces in driving climate solutions.
The main points covered in the document are:
- The climate transition is irreversible and represents the greatest business opportunity of our time.
- COP30, in Belém, will be a milestone for uniting global commitments and practical solutions.
- A Climate Action Agenda was launched, with 6 axes and 30 objectives, which brings together initiatives and creates a “Solutions Barn” to scale concrete actions.
- The private sector is called upon to act as a co-author of the new climate economy, with credible transition plans, partnerships, and innovation.
- Belém will be the stage for an unprecedented engagement for companies, investors and entrepreneurs to present transformative solutions.
The letter also acknowledges the logistical challenges of traveling to Belém, but emphasizes that this is precisely the moment when the private sector can lead by example, demonstrating that climate leadership means engaging with the real world.
