On August 28, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) was present at the Rio Climate Action Week, holding the event “Business Day: mobilizing the business sector for COP30”, at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB), in Rio de Janeiro.
The initiative brought together representatives of large Brazilian companies committed to the transition to a low-carbon economy and included the participation of Ana Toni, Executive Director of COP30, which reinforced the importance of private sector engagement for the success of the Conference.
Six pillars of the COP30 Action Agenda
Throughout the day, the debates were structured around the six pillars that guide the COP30 Action Agenda:
- Energy, Industrial and Transport Transition
- Forest, Ocean and Biodiversity Management
- Transformation of Agriculture and Food Systems
- Building Resilience for Cities, Infrastructure and Water
- Promotion of Human and Social Development
- Cross-Cutting Facilitators and Accelerators – including financing, technology and training.
These themes guided discussions on how Brazil can strengthen its global leadership in the climate agenda, presenting concrete solutions that combine business competitiveness and sustainability.
Alliance for Climate Action
Business Day was part of the official program for the first edition of Rio Climate Action Week, a global week of mobilization that brings together governments, businesses, and civil society around solutions to the climate crisis.
For CEBDS, the event represented a milestone in building alliances between the business sector, civil society and government in preparation for COP30, which will be held in Belém in November 2025.
