Initial Contributions of the CEBDS Decarbonization Coalitions to the Regulation of the Carbon Market in Brazil

The regulation of the Brazilian Emissions Trading System (SBCE) represents a strategic step towards transforming carbon pricing into an effective instrument for decarbonization and competitiveness in the Brazilian economy. This publication consolidates technical and strategic contributions from CEBDS and its Business Coalitions in the Transportation, Electricity, Essential Minerals, and Agribusiness sectors, bringing together recommendations on topics such as governance, MRV (Monthly Reduction Value), emissions allocation, offsets, integration with voluntary markets, and articulation with instruments such as CBAM, RenovaBio, CORSIA, and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The document seeks to support the regulation and implementation of the SBCE from a multi-sectoral perspective, strengthening the dialogue between government and the business sector and contributing to an integrated and efficient carbon market capable of driving low-carbon investments in Brazil.
