CEBDS integrates the Sustainable Agrocarbon Thematic Chamber

  • Posted in 14/02/2024

We are proud to announce that we have become active members of the newly created Sustainable Agrocarbon Thematic Chamber, which will come into operation from March this year. Our director of Nature and Society, Juliana Lopes, was designated as representative of this important Federal Government initiative, which had its first official meeting held in Brasília, on March 6th.

The Sustainable Agrocarbon Chamber, established by the Ministry of Agriculture, is part of the National Agricultural Policy Council (CNPA) and is made up of members from 74 entities from different rural sectors, financing banks, scientific institutions, non-governmental organizations, social representations and government agencies. government.

Chaired by Eduardo Bastos, representative of the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG), the chamber has four working groups: taxonomy, carbon markets, traceability and certification and investors.

The chamber will function as an advisory body to the National Agricultural Policy Council, which, in turn, advises the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in the development of public policies and in the construction, monitoring and inspection of the country's Agricultural Guidelines Plan. It will allow the construction of integrated public policies and collaboration that address critical issues such as food security, combating hunger, environmental conservation, climate resilience and maintaining Brazil's position as a major global exporter, aligning the Brazilian agricultural sector with socio-environmental demands and expectations of the international market.

Our common goal is to develop policies that promote food, climate and environmental security, while maintaining a productive and sustainable agricultural sector on a global scale.
