During the CEBDS 2024 Seminar: Fair Energy Transition, integrated with Nature and Society, which took place this Wednesday (08/28), in Natal, the companies and executives who won the CEBDS Female Leadership Award were announced. The award recognizes women leaders who contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their initiatives and projects, in addition to honoring companies that promote gender equality.
In the Women in Leadership category, the winners were Kellen Julio, Director of Diversity and Innovation in Content at Estúdios Globo, and Renata Twardowsky Ramalho Bonikowski, Executive Manager of Workplace Safety in Expansion Projects at Rumo Logística.
Kellen has contributed to advances in SDGs 5 (Gender Equality) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities). She works directly on advancing Globo's diversity and inclusion strategy. An example that shows the results achieved is that 72% of the hires throughout 2023 are part of underrepresented groups. Of this percentage, 46% were women and 46% were black people. In addition, in 2023, 72% of Globo's leadership participated in diversity and inclusion training. Between 2020 and 2023, more than 1,100 women and more than 1,300 black people were hired.
Renata has been working on issues related to SDGs 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy); 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure); 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production) and 15 (Life on Land).
She was responsible for the main environmental licensing processes for railway infrastructure projects in Brazil. She defined long-term goals at Rumo (2020-2030) aimed at energy efficiency and emissions reduction for all railway networks, with a reduction of more than 40% in specific emissions per ton transported. Her work has helped in the issuance of Green Bonds and Sustainability-Linked Bonds, with Rumo having more than 30% of its capital linked to these bonds. In addition, she coordinates a predictive study of fauna, already foreseeing means of mitigation. She has also developed projects for the prevention and recovery of flora (with more than 300 thousand tree seedlings planted in recent years), with social involvement. In the states of São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Goiás, more than 4 thousand animals were rescued in the last two years.
In the Companies Committed to Female Leadership category, the companies Mondelez Brasil and Norte Energia SA were recognized. Within its affirmative action policies, Mondelez International is working towards the global goal of 50% of women in leadership positions by the end of 2024. The company in Brazil reached the goal two years early, in 2022. Today, the company's overall index is 54.1%. Women are represented in 100% of the areas.
On the Board of Directors of Norte Energia, a body that defines long-term strategies, in addition to monitoring the actions of the Board of Directors and making decisions on relevant topics within the business scope, 58,33% are women.
