Updating the Water Management Plan

Votorantim Cimentos revisited and updated its Water Management Plan. Initiative promotes actions in all company units, with six actions to be carried out. Goals and results are monitored quarterly in order to meet the final objective of the 2020 Commitments. Guidelines define objectives for different areas of the business and in which water is treated within the Sustainability theme.

In 2018, the company's Water Management Plan (PGA) was revisited and updated. The PGA promotes actions in all the company's units in Brazil, and has the following actions as macro premises:

  • Measurement and Monitoring;
  • Consumption reduction;
  • Protection of water resources;
  • Encouragement of good practices;
  • Innovation actions;
  • Institutional partnerships.

In addition, in 2014, the company established the 2020 Commitments that define goals for various areas of the business and in which water is treated within the Sustainability theme.

Since water is a fundamental pillar of the business strategy, it was defined that the units present in areas with water scarcity would have an individual EMP. Goals and results are monitored quarterly in order to meet the final objective of the 2020 Commitments.

The actions foreseen in the EMP and in the 2020 Commitments for the water theme are in progress.

Current planning provides for the achievement of goals by 2020, and strategic planning actions for the topic by 2025 are under construction.

The evaluation is carried out monthly and considers the data included in the Operational Environmental Performance Index (IDAO), where information on the goals of each unit of the company is consolidated. The data is evaluated by those responsible for the environment at the units and shared with the Corporate Environment team. 2020 commitments are evaluated quarterly.
