“What is sustainable for you?” This is the guiding question of the cultural competition #sustainable2018, created by the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) to warm up the 2018 Sustainable Congress. The event will take place throughout the month of August, which is also Photography Month, and is open to anyone residing in Brazil who has an Instagram account. The winning photo will be chosen by popular vote and revealed during the event Sustainable 2018, which takes place in São Paulo, on September 11th.
The idea for the competition came about with the intention of awakening and broadening Brazilians' view of environmental and social issues, such as climate, urban mobility, gender equality, diversity, water, conscious consumption, etc. A good tip for inspiration on the theme is to consult the UN's 2030 Agenda, made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Many of the planet’s problems require urgent solutions, such as global warming, water crises, ocean pollution, extreme poverty and hunger. Our intention is to encourage society to pay attention to these causes. We believe in art as an instrument of awareness and we chose photography because it is the most democratic artistic expression today, since its production is accessible with just a cell phone camera and a good click,” says CEBDS president Marina Grossi.
O Sustainable Congress 2018 is sponsored by Santander, Itau, Braskem It is Shell.
