CEBDS launches campaign in Brazil to raise awareness about Sustainable Development Goals

Rio de Janeiro, 26/02 – The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) is launching the #VidaQueQueremos challenge on March 11. Inspired by the publication “Goals for the Life We Want,” the challenge seeks to encourage daily actions that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To participate in the challenge, simply share photos on Instagram of actions that contribute to a more equal and sustainable world for all, using the hashtag #VidaQueQueremos.

“Each SDG is divided into several goals, which are the paths that governments, companies and individuals must follow in order to achieve the objectives. The point is that all of this depends to some extent on the actions of each one of us. It is a common agenda. When we think about combating climate change and inequality, for example, we feel that it is something too big for our capabilities. But if we understand the problems and start consuming only from companies that use cleaner production processes and offer fair working conditions, we can already make a huge difference in the world,” explains Marina Grossi, president of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS).

Goals for the Life We Want

To facilitate effective changes in people’s attitudes towards environmental and social issues, international organizations, including the WBCSD (a global entity of which the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development – CEBDS is a member) have developed a campaign to personalize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Called “Goals for the Life We Want”, the campaign provides a practical guide to linking the SDGs to people’s everyday activities.

The material, which can be downloaded for free from the CEBDS website, provides suggestions for behaviors ranging from the simplest, which are only at the level of awareness, to the most challenging, which require lifestyle changes. Each set of actions in the manual was designed according to specific criteria: having a tangible impact on achieving the SDG; being accessible to both compulsive consumers and those who consume less; using clear language and being understandable to everyone.
