World Water Day: CEBDS launches e-book with strategies for corporate water efficiency

Publication will be available for free download at CEBDS website

To guide companies on how to implement or improve water resource management in their activities, the Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) is launching an e-book this Friday, World Water Day, containing the five main strategies for water efficiency. In addition to concepts and guidelines, the publication presents good practices from large companies, which have been adopted in the most diverse sectors.

The publication is a continuation of the Corporate Commitment to Water Security, a document created by CEBDS a year ago, in which more than 20 signatories commit to meeting targets to improve their water management and provide transparency on what is being done, to stimulate a cascade effect of these good practices in the industry. One of the Council's objectives is to promote greater engagement and dissemination of experiences, learning and information on sustainable development among the Brazilian business sector.

Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), created by the UN in 2015 to govern the actions of governments, companies and people towards a better planet in 2030.

“It is important to remember that water resource management must be practiced in all companies, regardless of their size or line of business, and the responsibility for preserving water lies with each one of us,” says Marina Grossi, president of CEBDS.

For those who want to delve deeper into the topic and learn about other water management initiatives, CEBDS offers the Aquasfera digital hub, which brings together all the water management projects and success stories of the companies that signed the Business Commitment for Water Security. Both the commitment and Aquasfera are legacies of the World Water Forum, which took place last year in Brazil, and will be taken to the next Forum, in 2021 in Senegal, as an experience to be replicated in other countries.
