Registration is now open for the 10th edition of the Sustainable Congress

CEBDS's main event brings renowned speakers and up-to-date and in-depth discussions about Brazil and the world

Registration is now open for the 10th edition of Sustentável, CEBDS' main event. The congress, which will be online, will take place between September 28 and 30, and will be aimed at the business sector, partners, opinion makers and civil society. This year the event will bring an updated discussion on the present and future challenges for a more just, resilient and sustainable society.

The extensive list of speakers includes representatives from the government, businesspeople, the third sector and academia. Among them are Izabella Teixeira, co-chair of the UN International Natural Resources Panel (IRP/UNEP) since 2017 and former Minister of the Environment (2010-2016); Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity; Marcelo Pasquini, executive superintendent of Bradesco; Flávio Dino, governor of the state of Maranhão; and Professor Carlos Ayres Brito, former minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

“We will have the main discussions that are being discussed for the world, but above all for our country, both in relation to the Amazon and the Brazil that we are building. How do we want to be in 2050? What is already being done?” asks the president of CEBDS, Marina Grossi.

Topics include the relationship between the business sector and the Amazon, ways to finance the standing forest, companies' contributions to meeting global biodiversity targets, the Paris Agreement and the fight against illegal deforestation.

The first day of the event will focus on the Amazon, treating it not as a liability, but as a valuable and strategic asset for Brazil. The other days will be covered by Vision 2050, a strategic study by CEBDS that outlines what the future will look like in terms of topics related to the ESG agenda.

“Sustainability is already integrated into the business of large companies in Brazil and around the world. But we need to go further and expand it to all segments of civil society. To stimulate this transformation process, Sustentável 2021 is an opportunity for each and every citizen to promote the construction of a better world”, concludes Marina.

Concluding the Sustainable Congress 2021, there will be awards for the two categories of the 4th CEBDS Female Leadership Award: Associated Companies and Women on the board.
