Event, which takes place in the Blue Zone, will address the regulation of this market and its importance for meeting climate neutrality objectives
This Saturday, November 12th, at 11:15 am, CEBDS (Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development) will hold the panel “The role of a regulated carbon market to support the Brazilian business sector in achieving net-zero targets”. The event takes place in the Blue Zone of COP 27, a space that gathers negotiators from the UN conference, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the implications of regulating a national carbon market with a group of specialists that includes academia and sectorial entities.
For CEBDS, the creation of a regulated carbon market, a banner that it has been defending since 2016, is a fundamental element for adapting the productive sector to face global warming. After all, Brazilian companies have the challenge of restructuring and innovating, establishing commitments and seeking measures to implement net-zero targets that increase the ambition of the Brazilian Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and strengthen the long-term goal of climate neutrality by 2050.
With the aim of discussing the benefits and implications of the regulated carbon market and its role for the business sector to achieve climate neutrality objectives, the panel will gather Ronaldo Seroa da Motta, professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at UERJ; Victor Salviati, Superintendent of Innovation & Institutional Development at FAS (Sustainable Amazon Foundation); Viviane Romeiro, technical manager for the CEBDS Climate Thematic Chamber; Karen Tanaka, Sustainability Manager at AMBEV; and Caroline Prolo, Executive Director of LACLIMA.
