As a result of the active collaboration of 64 companies representing different economic sectors, led by CEBDS, we presented at COP 28 our contributions to the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity (Epanb), in order to guide the paths that Brazil will follow in relation to nature, aiming to achieve the objectives established in the new Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
This document, prepared by the productive sector, aims to build an effective and efficient policy for biodiversity in Brazil, reconciling production and preservation, with the aim of caring for the environment, in addition to generating jobs and income for the population.
Juliana Lopes, CEBDS Director of Nature and Society, emphasized that by including biodiversity in sustainability reports, companies can identify and mitigate risks, taking advantage of opportunities for innovation and development of sustainable products and services, strengthening their positive reputation among consumers, investors and society.
The strategy was presented at an event held by the Brazilian Association of State Environmental Entities (Abema) at COP 28, which was attended by Thiago Pampolha, Vice-Governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Mauren Lazzaretti, President of Abema and Secretary of the Environment of Mato Grosso, Eduardo Taveira, Executive Vice-President of Abema and Executive Secretary of the Environment of Amazonas and André Andrade, PhD, Director of the National Secretariat for Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
