Brazil will face major challenges to achieve the transition to a low-carbon economy. In addition to implementing the commitments signed in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the country needs to establish a long-term development strategy, as provided for in the Paris Agreement, ratified by Brazil in 2016. Given this scenario, the Brazilian Business Council for Development (CEBDS), with the support of Instituto Clima e Sociedade (ICS), present the pioneering study Low-carbon development strategy for the long term, which points out five main paths. The study also outlines the roles of the business sector and the different spheres of government to contribute the most to neutralizing global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050.
