CEBDS, among 17 other business councils present in Latin America, was chosen by World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) to lead the Latin American network and serve as the region's spokesperson. In total, there will be seven secretariats spread across the world: Africa (led by South Africa), Asia (led by China), Europe (led by France), North America (led by the USA), Latin America (led by Brazil), Oceania (led by New Zealand), and Southeast Asia (led by Singapore).
With the creation of the secretariats, the WBCSD's goal is to reinforce the organization's guidelines for regional projects and enable the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the countries that make up the global network of councils for sustainable development. The selection of CEBDS (which celebrates its 17th anniversary this year) as the first secretary of the Latin American network strengthens the organization's leadership role in the region and within the WBCSD. The global network of business councils is made up of 65 regional partners representing more than 35,000 companies worldwide. Today, CEBDS has more than 70 member companies representing more than 40% of GDP.
