The 1st Brazilian Workshop on Adapting Life Cycle Inventories took place in Brasília from January 21st to 23rd. Promoted by CEBDS in partnership with UNEP and IBICT, the course aimed to train specialists to develop the first datasets to be made available in the Brazilian Database.”The main purpose of developing this database is to meet the growing demand from industries and the Brazilian Academy for information on the life cycle of products and elementary processes that use data from the reality of Brazilian production as a way of strengthening Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in the country."s," says Marina Santa Rosa, coordinator of the Network. Participants in the workshop included 16 LCA experts, renowned professors in the field, the president and coordinator of the LCA Network, experts from IBICT, and Gil Anderi, president of the Brazilian Life Cycle Association.
The project represents a major milestone for the development of LCA in Brazil and remains ongoing, as the adaptation process is still being completed by specialists. The data is expected to be entered into the Brazilian Database in April, after the review is complete.
