Last May, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development took over coordination of the Brazilian Business Network for Life Cycle Assessment. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a technique that studies the environmental aspects and potential impacts (both positive and negative) throughout the life of a product or service, from raw material extraction to final disposal. LCA allows for the measurement of sustainability aspects and enables consumers and companies to make informed choices about the socio-environmental impacts of products, thereby integrating sustainability into the decision-making process.
Goals
– Create an environment of cooperation between companies interested in using LCA in Brazil, which allows for the optimization of resources.
– Educate and train companies on the concept, its application and benefits of LCA.
– Make information about LCA in Brazil available and disseminate it to various audiences, including studies, best practices, and experts.
– Influence and support the government in creating the Brazilian Database.
The ACV Network is coordinated by Marina Santa Rosa (CEBDS) and chaired by Luiz Gustavo Ortega, Braskem's Sustainable Development Manager. Watch the explanatory video on Life Cycle Assessment, also available on the channel. braskemsa on YouTube.
