COP30 will be held in Belém, in the Amazon; CEBDS is already preparing the deliveries of the business sector for the global meeting
The Brazilian government announced today that the UN has confirmed the city of Belém, in Pará, as the venue for the 2025 Climate Conference, COP30. It will be the first time that the country will host the global meeting, which brings together nearly 200 countries to discuss solutions to climate change.
The date is also symbolic because, in 2025, we will complete 10 years of the Paris Agreement – the global framework for combating global warming -; all countries will have to submit new national targets for reducing greenhouse gases (called NDCs); and we will be five years away from the deadline to meet the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The location is also striking because it is a headquarters in the Amazon.
For Brazil, it is an opportunity to show the world progress towards sustainable development. The country will have to effectively deliver concrete actions in this regard.
For the business sector, CEBDS has already started planning deliveries for this conference on Brazilian soil, in partnership with the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development). The contributions of our associates will be essential for the productive sector to further reinforce, in Belém, the leading role it already occupies in the new global economy.
