Event takes place on August 31st and features big names among the speakers
The Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) will hold, on August 31st, from 10am to 11am, the Launch Seminar of the Regulatory Framework on the Carbon Market. The event, which is free, will be broadcast on Entity's YouTube, and will feature the participation of greats such as: Ronaldo Seroa da Mota, professor of Economics at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Maurício Rodrigues, president of the Crop Science Division for Latin America at Bayer, Solange Ribeiro, deputy president from Neoenergia and Gustavo Pinheiro, coordinator of the Low Carbon Economy Portfolio at Instituto Clima e Sociedade.
The event aims to present and discuss the current scenario and the challenges for the pricing of greenhouse gas emissions. For years, CEBDS has advocated the creation of a regulated or voluntary carbon market for the country, which would bring advantages as it is a central element to assist the business sector's decision-making process through the internalization of the costs of risks and opportunities of the NDC and the need for robust, comprehensive and long-term policies so that Brazil has the chance to achieve the 1.5 C targets and net zero emissions by 2050, among other advantages, such as the opportunity to expand business.
“The business sector plays a fundamental role as an important actor in this change, as it can mobilize human and investment resources, drive technological innovation and finance the transition to a new low-carbon economy”, points out Maria Grossi, president of CEBDS.
