Supported by more than 100 organizations, the TISFD Alliance advocates for combating social inequality as a central factor in financial decisions
The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) has joined the Task Force on Inequality and Social Issues-Related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) Alliance. This is a global coalition of businesses, financial institutions, labor, civil society and international organizations that believes in the fundamental need for companies and capital providers to integrate people and society into decision-making, alongside climate and nature.
TISFD will develop a global framework for companies and financial institutions to include in their public reporting more effective disclosures about impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities related to social issues, including inequality.
“TISFD seeks to develop a framework for disclosing financial risks related to inequality, similar to what the TCFD (Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) did for the climate. By being part of this alliance, CEBDS positions itself as a relevant player in the development of metrics and guidelines that can not only guide Brazilian and international companies, but that, in the future, may be incorporated into financial and capital market regulations around the world”, says Juliana Lopes, Director of Nature and Society at CEBDS.
Launched in September 2024, TISFD is chaired by Peter Bakker, President of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) – who articulated CEBDS' entry into the Alliance – and executives from the World Bank, UNESCO, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), among other global organizations.
