Associates participate in exclusive meetings with government representatives

  • Posted in 10/12/2023

During COP28, CEBDS members participated in three exclusive meetings, aiming to deepen discussions on crucial topics related to climate negotiations and sustainability initiatives.

At the first event, held on December 3, we welcomed ambassador André Corrêa do Lago to explore the “inside track” of the COP28 and UNFCCC negotiations. The session allowed participants to bring up discussion points that were of interest to them.

In Dubai, on December 9th, a bilateral session between the Brazilian business delegation at COP28 and representatives from the European Commission addressed the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The meeting highlighted implications for Brazil, suggestions for advances in the mechanism by the Brazilian business sector and clarifications on the next stages of development.

Still on the 9th, the members had the opportunity to learn more about the Tropical Forest Forever Fund in a meeting with Garo Batmaniam, General Director of the Brazilian Forest Service. The meeting addressed the federal government's proposal for a new global forest protection mechanism and provided a space for clarifications and discussions between member companies and the leader of the Brazilian Forest Service.
