CEBDS holds meeting with ambassador André Corrêa do Lago and leaders of associated companies

The objective is to discuss the country's strategic direction in the international climate agenda

Members of the CEBDS (Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development) Leadership Council met this Tuesday (3), with Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, Secretary of Climate, Energy and Environment of Itamaraty and one of the greatest experts in climate negotiations in Brazil, at the headquarters of the CCR Group, in São Paulo.

At the meeting, the Brazilian business sector reinforced its commitment to the goal of curbing global warming, positioning itself as an important player in keeping the temperature increase within the 1.5°C limit.

In addition to collaborating on a robust NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution), the agenda also included building a lasting legacy for the development of the Amazon region, which will host COP30 in 2025, which includes a strategic vision on investment in sustainable logistics and infrastructure, with an emphasis on National Integration Routes.

“The qualified participation of business leaders is essential to influence and support more ambitious, implementable and transparent policies. Through this meeting, we seek to strengthen the engagement of the business sector and the public sector with the aim of driving commitments and public policies towards the future, in addition to discussing strategic issues, such as reconciling the sustainability agenda with the country’s socioeconomic development”, highlights the president of CEBDS, Marina Grossi.

“With the largest tropical forest in the world, the greatest biodiversity and the greatest potential for nature-based solutions, Brazil has a central role in any discussion on the global climate agenda. Close cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential for the country to be a protagonist in this agenda and to be able to capture the investment opportunities that the green transition offers, transforming itself into a climate hub at an international level. This agenda is even more strategic given the proximity of COP30, in Belém do Pará”, says the CEO of CCR Group, Miguel Setas.
