CEBDS Seminar promotes social action with NGOs from Rio Grande do Norte

Twenty full scholarships for the training of programmers will be awarded during the CEBDS 2024 Seminar: Fair Energy Transition, integrated with Nature and Society, next Wednesday, August 28, in Natal.

In this social impact initiative, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) will contribute to the professionalization of young people and adults, supported by the NGOs Centro SUVAG (which works with the promotion of hearing health, social assistance and rehabilitation for LIBRAS); Associação de Artesãos do Mopebum (aimed at female entrepreneurs), Cooperativa de Batalhas do RN (aimed at hip-hop culture) and Lamparina Comunicação Popular (aimed at young people to work in the field of communication).

A study by the Association of Information and Communication Technology (TIC) and Digital Technologies Companies (BRASCOM) shows a great demand in Brazil for 797 thousand technology professionals by 2025 – with only 53 thousand people trained per year in technology-related courses and an annual need for 159 thousand professionals.

The scholarships for the online course offered by DEVMEDIA, the largest platform for training programmers in the country, provide more than 1,000 hours, more than 10,000 practical exercises and 40 real projects. In addition to the certificate, students will have a portfolio of projects to present to the market. “For Brazil to develop sustainably, technology and well-trained technology professionals are essential. Computerization and communication can be used to promote the green economy. This is what we advocate and want to stimulate regionally with these scholarships,” said CEBDS president Marina Grossi.

CEBDS holds a free and open seminar on the Fair Energy Transition, integrated with Nature and Society

The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) is holding the CEBDS 2024 Seminar: Fair Energy Transition, integrated with Nature and Society, on August 28. For the first time, Natal, capital of Rio Grande do Norte – the largest wind power generator in the country, with 8 GW in operation, representing 30.20% of all wind power production in Brazil – will host the event. The meeting will be in-person, free of charge and open to the public.

With its predominantly sustainable electricity grid, Brazil has a prominent global position. In addition to the leading role played by its natural resources, its presidency of this year's G20 and next year's COP 30 will focus the international spotlight on the country.

The seminar will promote discussion on renewable energy sources, essential for achieving climate neutrality, with a more in-depth analysis of social impacts and care for biodiversity.

In addition to the participation of the Governor of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra, the CEBDS Seminar will promote debate on topics such as clean energy, regenerative agriculture, energy transition, human rights and climate change with important names from the business scene, such as Veronica Coelho, CEO of Equinor Brasil; Raul Jungmann, CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM) and José Aldemir, Planning Director of Banco do Nordeste.

The meeting will be divided into six panels, which will also address topics such as challenges and opportunities for transition from a multidimensional perspective; the regulatory issue for developing clean energy technologies; financing and the role of multilateral and development banks in mobilizing resources for sustainable projects; and the adoption of climate actions by companies to reduce risks and adverse impacts.

During the event, the 7th edition of the Female Leadership Award will also take place, which aims to recognize women leaders who contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their initiatives and projects, in addition to honoring companies that promote equality of gender.
