As representatives of the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) in Brazil, CEBDS brings direct access to global initiatives to the country, promoting the advancement of a more sustainable economy.
A practical example of this collaboration was the recent holding of the 1st Regional Consultation of the Global Circularity Protocol (GCP), carried out in partnership with the One Planet Network at Eletrobras.
The consultation is part of an initiative to harmonize circularity strategies and targets, involving businesses, government and civil society around the world. The debate addressed challenges and opportunities for implementing circular models, with a focus on reducing waste and reusing resources.
The results of the meeting, which was attended by representatives of Brazilian companies, including our associates Suzano, New Wave Tech, CAIXA, Neoenergia, Lwart Soluções Ambientais, Natura and Petrobras, will help in the development of future guidelines for the circular economy in Brazil. During the meeting, André Melo, Coordinator of the CEBDS Circular Economy Working Group, presented the needs of the Global South in relation to circularity.
The Global Circularity Protocol (GCP) is a voluntary mechanism that provides a framework for companies to manage, measure, set targets and disclose their circularity performance, aiming to create policy levers for the circular transition.
The first version of the protocol is expected to be presented in 2025, during COP 30. We will be there!
