COP29
The city of Baku, Azerbaijan, will host the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) from November 11 to 22, where global leaders, businesses and civil society representatives will discuss the progress needed to tackle climate change and promote sustainable development. This year, expectations are set for the Climate Finance, driving a central theme in COP29 agenda: allocate resources so that developing countries can strengthen their infrastructure and transition to a low-carbon economy.
Another important topic will be the submission of new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which will set climate targets for 2023 and 2035, with a submission deadline of February 2025. These commitments are an essential step towards reducing global emissions and making progress in containing global warming.
A private sector participation will be encouraged to strengthen financing initiatives and adaptation to the green economy. Companies from different sectors will be able to contribute to the fair energy transition and support sustainable projects.
With themed days to guide the discussions, the COP29 Presidency presents a plan based on two pillars: “raising ambition” and “enabling action”. This is the way to transform COP29 into the so-called “Financing COP”, focusing on the transition to clean energy and the future of the sustainable economy.

#CEBDSnaCOP29
We will be in Baku representing the private sector of Brazil, a leading country in the energy transition, taking with us 30 companies associated with the CEBDS from the most varied sectors, in search of updates and learning about the green transition and decarbonization.
In recent years, the CEBDS, next to the business sector, was present at the COPs and we defend key topics for advancing energy transition and decarbonization in Brazil, such as the establishment of climate goals more ambitious and the need to create a regulated carbon market in Brazil.
The expectation is that this year, discussions on COP29 can leverage the journey to COP30 in Brazil, which will take place here in Belém, Pará, allowing the public and private sectors to advance towards a future increasingly green.
