Action plan to reduce water risk

In line with the requirements of the CEO Water Mandate, in 2021 Braskem joined the WRC (Water Resilience Coalition) and Race to Resilience initiatives, with the objective of identifying and supporting the implementation of collective actions for high-risk watersheds.
Braskem's facilities located in basins with water risk have developed an Action Plan to study the cost and feasibility of alternative sources. Among the possibilities are water reuse, desalination and the use of groundwater.

The Climate Change and Adaptation Plan developed by Braskem identified water scarcity as the main potential risk for the company's operations. The same plan complemented by specific studies of high-risk basins indicated the need to find new / alternative water sources to mitigate / neutralize the impacts of water scarcity as the main primary response to risk. Braskem has been developing action plans (2017/2030) to find these new/alternative sources of water.
These actions are part of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan, which also provides for continued support for the Aquapolo project, thus ensuring the continuity of production at the company's plants in the ABC region.
The action is its own. It is an individual project, but it sets a precedent for more companies to share in the use of reuse water once projects based on the Aquapolo model are established as an example, or solutions that are adopted by industrial centers.

Finalize the studies of the best alternatives and finalize the Action Plans for the implementation of the selected alternatives.
Close the partnership with local sanitation companies and develop the notice to hire the company that will provide alternative services (in case of reuse of effluents).
Beginning of the construction of the structure necessary for the operation of the alternatives.
Completion of works and start of operations.
Target: Water Security Index 100% by 2030.

Monitoring will be carried out by meeting the targets established in the previous item and after the start of the operation will be carried out by monitoring the volumes consumed.
After the start of the operation, the evaluation will be based on the safe volume of water consumed and the percentage that this impacts on the company's water security goals.
