Project Drop of Water! Don't let it get to the last

The main objective of the project is to promote/enhance the conscious use of water for the entire company.

We will send you good practice pills, knowledge quiz and forms/alternatives of rainwater storage and reuse.

The main objective is to reinforce/encourage ways to optimize/reuse the use of water in the most diverse areas of the company, such as:

Storage and distribution of rainwater;
Capture and retention of condensation water from air conditioning machines; It is
Installation of flow dosers in faucets and water points.
Review of processes that generate water savings in operational areas.

Additionally, we need to maintain existing equipment in our units and promote the installation of new water storage equipment. We will also make an improvement in the process of using the stored volume.

We have in many of the company's units, from accommodation/night stays to administrative headquarters, condensation water storage devices from air conditioning evaporator units. These devices vary in capacity from 15 to 40 liters of water. This volume is used for washing the common areas of the units and for gardening.

In addition, in October 2020, we sent a knowledge quiz focused on the conscious use of water, which was posted on Rumo News. We overcame some physical barriers, such as changing faucets to install flow reducers and installing automatic faucets.

We promoted changes in the diesel tank degassing process for locomotive maintenance. With the change in the process, we generated savings of 42,000 liters of water, 300 liters of soap and a reduction in repair time by 14.5 hours, with the implementation of the new process in 14 locomotives.

We can also mention, we delivered the waste centers of the São José do Rio Preto, Araraquara and Usina de Trilhos de Bauru units. The plants have a rainwater harvesting system and a containment system, following the guidelines of the Sustainability Policy to prioritize sustainable practices and methods, in 2021.

Regarding the main partnerships, all actions carried out were carried out with the Environment and Communication team, and operational areas.

Our plan is to send pills of knowledge and best practices to the entire company every six months. Using appropriate languages and directed to the units (administrative and operational). Taking advantage of the pills, we will annually send a quiz of the points covered above, to measure the effectiveness of the actions. From a structural point of view, for locations that have a cooling system, we will install water collectors for reuse. Planning to perform 10 units per year.
