CEBDS promotes event “From Dubai to Brazil: Building Ambition on the Road to COP30” at COP28

  • Posted in 07/12/2023

Brazil will host COP 30 in 2025 in the city of Belém, a moment that will mark 10 years of the Paris Agreement and also the submission of new NDCs by nations that are party to the agreement.

The “Trajectory from Dubai to Belém” will be a practical means of demonstrating Brazil’s commitment to implementing domestic climate measures. Therefore, this was the theme of the event “From Dubai to Brazil: Building Ambition on the Road to COP30”, which CEBDS promoted at COP28 UAE on December 3rd.

Ambassador André Correa do Lago, Secretary of Climate, Energy and Environment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the panel and highlighted the uniqueness of the moment in terms of opportunities for Brazil, reinforcing the Brazilian government's commitment to the agenda of combating climate changes.

Marina Freitas Grossi, President CEBDS, emphasized the companies' commitment to building a journey that leads from Dubai to Belém and beyond. She highlighted the need to provide national mechanisms to bring opportunities and prosperity to people, especially those living in the Amazon, aiming to reduce inequalities.

In addition to the participation of Marina and André, the panel was moderated by María Mendiluce, from We Mean Business Coalition, participation of Madalena Callé Lucas, from EDP; Keyvan Macedo, from Natura &Co; Natalia Dias, from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES); and Izabella Teixeira, former Minister of the Environment and director of CEBRI – Brazilian Center for International Relations.

Parallel to the debate, on that occasion, we also launched the Fact Sheet 'Journey in Natural Climate Actions in Brazil', which fully covers the activities of the Amazon Working Group during the SCN's trajectory. The file highlights several important points related to the criteria developed collaboratively throughout 2023.
