We handed over to federal deputy Aliel Machado, the positioning signed by 53 large companies associated with CEBDS, calling for urgency in regulating the carbon market and simplifying the text of the bill. Aliel, who reported on the topic in the Chamber of Deputies, received the document on June 18, in Brasília. Previously, we shared the document with Senator Leila Barros, rapporteur on the topic in the Senate.
At both meetings, we reinforced that the regulation of this market propels the business sector and the country to international protagonism in the agenda to combat climate change, and is one of the main demands in terms of public policies for the Brazilian business sector.
The creation of a regulated carbon market in Brazil is essential for the country to lead the global transition to a new economy, and the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) has contributed since 2016 to the construction of this market, in constant dialogue with the Executive and Legislative powers.
