O World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and CEBDS carry out the Sustainable Production and Consumption Workshop between May 26th and 27th, in São Paulo. This meeting is a second step in advancing CEBDS's work on Sustainable Production and Consumption, one of the platform's priority areas. Action 2020This workshop addresses four major themes: food and beverages; mobility and transportation; household and housing consumption (energy, waste, appliances); and personal household goods (clothing, hygiene, beauty, accessories). Within each theme, various issues related to production and consumption are discussed. Each group is facilitated by a non-business institution that will leverage the discussion alongside participants, with the goal of mapping opportunities, challenges, and potential business solutions within the theme and the companies' scope of action.

In addition, three studies prepared on the topic are presented, focusing on natural resources, consumption profiles, consumer thinking and logic, and social impact issues, in the Brazilian context, carried out by three institutions – CSCP, ERM It is Havas. These studies are the first step towards defining a methodology for Value Chain Footprint – analysis of the ecological footprint of the product's value chain throughout its life cycle. The two-day event's main objectives are:
– understand the advances that companies are making to make their products more sustainable;
– through the insights from the studies carried out, identify opportunities for innovation;
– create a space where dialogue and collaboration between companies can be enhanced, towards innovative production that allows for more sustainable consumption of natural resources, through understanding different consumer profiles and thinking logics;
– map opportunities to work with companies and in partnership with renowned institutions in the development of business solutions in Brazil in the area of Sustainable Production and Consumption.
