Technical Note – The Brazilian electricity sector and climate change

In order to clarify to the business sector the relationship between the Brazilian electricity sector and global climate change, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) held two workshops in partnership with PSR, which were attended by leading experts in the energy sector. The first workshop focused on the relationship between global climate change and the water and energy crises in Brazil, the multiple uses of water and the possible impacts on the Brazilian business sector and the national economy.

The second focused on the need to place climate risks at the center of energy planning in Brazil and addressed the role of the business sector in this transition, focusing on possible strategies, actions and opportunities for this participation to be effective.

This technical note summarizes the discussions from each roundtable, highlighting the main messages and conclusions.
