On the eve of Amazon Day, celebrated on September 5, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) is promoting an immersion for CEOs of large companies in the largest tropical forest in the world. The leaders of 8 large companies operating in Brazil are meeting in the region, where they will have four days of activities to identify challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in the region.
The company presidents will visit communities and economic activities developed in the Amazon, in addition to lectures with regional leaders and researchers.
The CEOs present represented different sectors: agriculture, energy, finance, mining, oil and gas, sanitation, health and transportation. The activity is part of the Business Movement for the Amazon, a CEBDS initiative that promotes sustainable development in the region, generating jobs and income from standing forests. The Amazon region is home to 30 million Brazilians, in an area that accounts for 59% of Brazilian territory.
