Popular vote will have greater importance in the 2019 edition of the CEBDS Award for Women's Leadership.

The award will give visibility to social projects for women's empowerment that can be adopted by companies.

Rio de Janeiro, June 17 – Applications are now open for the CEBDS Women's Leadership Award, designed to recognize actions, women, and companies that develop initiatives contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this third edition of the award, CEBDS adds a new category that will reward social projects focused on empowering and training women for leadership. All registered social projects that meet the requirements of the call for proposals will be presented to member companies and may be "adopted" for a period of 12 months.  The complete announcement, with descriptions of the four categories and the registration area, is available on the website. cebds.org.

The other categories are the same as in previous years: Associated Companies, which will award three female executives; New Leaders Initiative, which will award two companies that develop initiatives to empower and train new female leaders; and the Popular Vote Category, which will recognize a female leader spontaneously nominated by the public, including representatives from the private sector, the third sector, or the government.

According to the president of CEBDS, Marina Grossi, the award was conceived to boost the achievement of SDG 5 in Brazil, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030. “It is an opportunity to recognize women leaders in companies who contribute to achieving the SDGs, and individuals and projects that dedicate efforts to promoting gender equality. This is one of the great challenges facing our society that must be addressed by everyone,” she emphasizes.

Registrations can be made until July 10th, and the winners will be announced during the CEBDS Seminar – Vision 2050: The Future is Made Now – which takes place in São Paulo on September 5th.
