Engagement for water saving solutions

As a beverage company, water is our main raw material and its preservation is part of our business strategy, not only because it represents more than 90% in beer, our main product, but because it is an essential resource for the economic, social and environmental well-being of society. That is why, for more than 20 years, we have been working to reduce the rate of water consumption in our breweries and manufacturing units, and our vision of sustainability prioritizes management based on reduced consumption, preservation of watersheds and access to potable water.
With investment in innovation, technology, active listening and sharing operational improvements, more technological equipment for reuse, we avoid waste and managed to reduce water consumption in our plants by 55% in the last 18 years, surpassing the water efficiency target established for 2025 The average for each 1 liter of beer produced dropped from 5.36 liters of water to 2.4 liters – an index that is a world reference in the beverage industry.

For more than 20 years, we have been working to preserve water and reduce the consumption rate in our breweries, for which we have a team of technicians, managers and specialists who have achieved incredible results.
Our approach to managing water resources starts within our breweries with actions that increase the efficiency of water use, our operations have challenging targets for reducing consumption that are deployed across all areas and levels. We measure our efficiency on a daily basis, by controlling consumption by the various areas and equipment. Supported by a rigorous internal management system, which directs us to the most effective treatment of identified problems and mapping of opportunities.
Actions include investment in innovation, technology, active listening, sharing operational improvements and more efficient equipment . Among the actions stand out:
1) Internal effluent reuse plant at the breweries in Jaguariúna (SP) in 2016 and later expanded to the breweries in Aquiraz (CE), Equatorial (MA), Guarulhos (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Sete Lagoas (NM) ); 2) Replacement/retrofit of packaging equipment such as bottle washers, vacuum pumps, pasteurizers, among others, and 3) Optimization of asepsis and cleaning procedures

All of our breweries have collective targets for reducing water consumption year on year,
With sectorized consumption measurement, water consumption management is stratified by area and monitored daily. The breweries' goals make up the goals of the specialists and corporate managers as well as make up the goal at the zone level and at the global level.
Our evolution has been measured over the last 20 years and the results are published annually in our sustainability report.
