CEBDS participates in the 26th Meeting of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

The focus of the business sector at the 26th Meeting of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice was to provide metrics that help companies measure and report their impact and dependence on nature. With more accurate data, it is expected to increase the financing needed for environmental conservation.

During the event, Vanessa Pereira, CEBDS Biodiversity and Biotechnology Coordinator, presented the contributions of the business sector to the implementation of national goals and their recommendations, focusing on the implementation of goal 15 in three phases.

The event was moderated by Bráulio Dias, Director of Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and featured presentations by representatives of the governments of Colombia and Peru, as well as Conservation International (CI-Brazil) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

Additionally, we organized a side event in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and WWF-Brazil, which addressed the critical funding gap in biodiversity conservation and its relationship with climate.

The results of the discussions at this meeting will be taken to COP16, which will take place in Cali, Colombia, in October.
