Business council will discuss topics such as natural climate solutions and green finance, within the official Summit program and in parallel events, in Pará
The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) will participate, as organizer and guest, in a series of debates related to the Amazon Summit, which will take place on August 8 and 9, in Belém, Pará. The event will bring together business leaders and government authorities from eight member countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO): Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
With the aim of promoting a new era of cooperation between the countries that are home to the Amazon biome, the Amazon Summit seeks to adopt a common policy for the sustainable development of the region. The Brazilian business sector gathered at CEBDS has built initiatives that promote a new model for the region, with environmentally correct and socially just actions. It has also been working on the construction of the National Strategy and Action Plans for Biodiversity (EPANB), which will bring Brazilian guidelines for actions that generate a positive impact on nature.
During the Summit, CEBDS will promote, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, entities linked to the UN and other civil society organizations, an event to discuss the protection of biodiversity. The meeting should bring together government representatives from all ACTO countries.
CEBDS will also participate in the Amazon Dialogues, a series of meetings promoted by civil society between the 4th and 6th of August, with the purpose of guiding the formulation of new strategies for the region, preceding the dialogue between heads of state.
Below, we set out in detail the participation of CEBDS.
