CTÁgua

The Water Thematic Chamber launched the publication "Water Risk Management in Brazil and the Business Sector: Challenges and Opportunities" in São Paulo on March 24th. The document was designed to guide company managers in implementing risk management in their companies, highlighting the relevance of water security for business. The study dedicates a section to risks inherent to the business sector and outlines methodologies and tools available for their management. Additionally, the TC is discussing the topics of water reuse and security. The Chamber's next meeting will take place on June 10th in Rio de Janeiro.

CTBio

One of the main projects of the Biodiversity and Biotechnology Thematic Chamber this year is discussing the implementation of the criteria required by Performance Standard 6 (Biodiversity) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the financial arm of the World Bank. Furthermore, CTBio is monitoring discussions on the regulatory framework for Payment for Environmental Services and is also discussing biodiversity indicators in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The next meeting of the Chamber will be on June 2nd in São Paulo.

CTFin

The Sustainable Finance Thematic Chamber will hold a workshop, in partnership with TruCost and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), to discuss the developments of the study "Natural Capital Risk Exposure of the Financial Sector in Brazil." This workshop will be held on July 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Febraban in São Paulo. The objective of the event is to engage representatives from different business sectors in the discussion of financial risks related to natural capital. Furthermore, CTFin is preparing the next study in the series on natural capital, which will address the opportunities emerging for the financial sector. The next meeting will be on June 16, in São Paulo.

CTCom

The main activities of the Communication and Education Thematic Chamber this year continue the CEO Meeting Cycle, which will take place in São Paulo in July, and the development of two new sustainability guides focused on the areas of Marketing and Innovation. The next CTCom meeting will take place in São Paulo on June 9th.

CTMobi

The Sustainable Mobility Thematic Chamber will begin a study on corporate mobility, with the main objectives of mapping the current corporate mobility situation in Brazil and identifying solutions and changes that can be implemented by the business sector. Additionally, CTMobi is discussing the topic of road safety and developing a best practices manual on the topic, with the aim of presenting it at the UN Global Road Safety Conference, to be held in Brasília in November.

CTClima

In May, the Thematic Chamber on Energy and Climate Change developed training in climate risk management focused on the areas of sustainability, environment, risk management, supply chain and project managers; in addition to the training for the carbon management project in the value chain, which is in its 4th edition. CTClima is also preparing its participation in the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 21), which will be held from November 30th to December 11th in Paris, France. The next meeting will be on June 11th in São Paulo.

CTSocial

The Social Impact Thematic Chamber held its first two workshops on the Social Impact of Business. These workshops—aimed at consumer goods companies and basic and extractive industries, respectively—are part of a project to develop a publication on the topic. This publication will focus on defining the social impact of businesses, how it is already measured and evaluated in operations, and how its communication to external stakeholders can be improved. Starting in May, individual interviews with other stakeholders will be conducted, and the next workshop will take place at the end of June, aimed at service companies. The publication will be released in November.
